Spring gardening

Ryan and I started planting seeds for our small vegetable garden. Last year we grew jalapenos, green peppers, and cilantro. Our porch only gets partial sun, so our choices are limited on what we can grow. We produced lots of jalapenos and cilantro last year which were great additions to our homemade salsa. This year we're trying spinach, sugar snap peas, mint, parsley, and jalapenos. Hopefully we will grow something this year. We had a great time getting the seeds started, as the weather was beautiful today. Ryan helped a lot, of course, by tasting all the soil before using it to plant the seeds. At first he was just licking small clumps, but then he put a huge clump in his mouth, and I had to put an end to the dirt eating. He definitely has a "green thumb". We can't wait to have a backyard where we can plant all kinds of vegetables and herbs.

I'm impressed that you start your plants from seeds. We cheat and buy the little plants later in spring. Cute pictures of Ryan!
